Privacy Policy

Effective: October 13, 2026Version 1.0alpinevistagroup.com/legal/cheesebook/privacy

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Alpine Vista Group LLC (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use CheeseBook, a cheese log and discovery app.

Information we collect

Account information. Your first name, last name (optional), username, bio, and email address.

Your content. Cheeses you log, tasting notes, ratings, and photos you add.

Usage analytics. CheeseBook sends app usage events, such as which screens are opened and which features are used, along with basic device information, to PostHog, a product analytics service. We use this to understand how the app is used and to fix problems. Events are linked to a random identifier for your installation, not to your account, and we do not record sessions. PostHog may derive your approximate location (country and city) from your IP address.

How we use information

We use your information to run your account, store and sync your cheese log and photos, show your community posts to other users, improve the app, and respond to support requests. We do not sell personal information and do not use it for advertising.

Community feed

Tasting notes and photos you post to the community feed are visible to other CheeseBook users, along with your username. Your first and last name are shown only if you choose to display them. Your bio and email address are not shown to other users.

Where your data is stored

Your account, content, and photos are stored with Supabase, our database and storage provider, on servers in the United States.

Sharing

We share information only with service providers that operate CheeseBook on our behalf (Supabase for storage and PostHog for analytics), or when required by law. Content you post to the community feed is shared with other users as described above.

Purchases

CheeseBook is free. If a paid Pro tier is offered, purchases are processed by Apple. We do not receive your payment card or billing address; we receive only the information Apple provides to confirm a purchase.

Account deletion

You can delete your account in the app. This permanently deletes your account, profile, cheese logs, and tasting notes. Photos you contributed to the community feed remain, but your username is removed from them, so they are no longer linked to you.

We do not keep separate backups of your data, so deleted data cannot be restored.

Support requests

If you contact support through cheesebook.com or by email, we receive your message along with your username and email address. We use them only to respond to you. You can ask us to delete your support correspondence at any time.

Children

CheeseBook is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

We will post updates on this page and revise the effective date. This address remains the permanent location of the current policy.
